THAT FRIDAY
written by Prayer Team Member Khadijar Dameron
Often there are specific dates or days that are important to us or hold certain memories. Like THAT Tuesday last April (April 4th to be exact) that is very significant to me. On THAT Tuesday, my life was spared from death after surviving two cardiac arrest incidents. Yes, THAT Tuesday has a great importance in my life...because I lived to tell the story!!
More important than THAT Tuesday was THAT Friday from so many, many years ago. THAT Friday that was even before my existence (or yours), that really impacts me. It was on THAT Friday that my Jesus would die on a criminal's cross, although He had committed no crime, so that sinful mankind might be spared from the penalty of sin (which is death) and be offered the gift of eternal life!! That is, the privilege to live forever in the presence of the Eternal God.
This privilege is offered to all who will believe in and accept Jesus as their personal Savior, Redeemer, and Hope.
"You see, all have sinned, and all their futile attempts to reach God in His glory fail. Yet they are now saved and set right by His free gift of grace through redemption available only in Jesus the Anointed." [ Romans 3:23-24 The Voice translation]
"Thank You, Lord for THAT Friday when You were in total control and took hold of sin and death. You laid down Your life freely, so that mankind was given the opportunity to be set free from the penalty of sin, which is eternal death! You have given us this promise from Your Holy word...If you believe deep in your heart that God raised Jesus from the pit of death and if you voice your allegiance by confessing the truth that "Jesus is Lord", then you will be saved!" [Romans 10:9-10 The Voice translation]
I think a lot about THAT Tuesday from last year and perhaps that is why I think a lot more about THAT Friday, from so long ago.

BUT...the story didn't end there, because on the third day (according to the scriptures), on THAT Sunday Jesus rose victoriously from His grave. Victorious over sin and death!! He died so that we might live!! And, because He lives we can live in the assurance of a life beyond this one. That's the hope of eternal life to everyone that would believe in Jesus Christ and what He accomplished at Calvary's Cross!!
